Basics of Brewing

You are able to brew special potions that have various effects. You may sell your brews in your own shop or cafe, or directly to other players.
There are 2 types of brews, alcoholic and non alcoholic.


How to Brew

  • 1. Fermenting
    • Place Cauldron over a Fire
    • Fill it with water
    • Add Ingredients with a Rightclick
    • Wait while they Ferment
    • Fill in glass bottles
    • Use a clock on a cauldron, if you want to know the time the ingredients have been fermenting.
  • 2. Distilling
    • Put the bottle with ferment into the brewing stand
    • Put glowstone dust as filter on top into the brewing stand (The filter will not be consumed)
  • 3. Aging - A barrel is needed for aging. It can be build in two ways
    • Small barrel
      • 8 Wooden stairs (in this shape)
      • 1 sign (placed on the lower right side; write "Barrel" in the upper Line)
    • Big barrel
      • 4 Fences, 16 Wooden stairs, 18 wood planks build like this (hollow inside):
      • 1 Fence and 1 Sign that has "Barrel" written on the first Line (You may remove the Sign from the Big Barrel after creating it.)
    • Barrel information
      • The small Barrel is opened with a right click on the sign, the big barrel with a right click on the spigot (fence);
      • Put the Bottles into the Barrels for aging;
      • Depending on the Recipe the Type of wood used may alter the quality of the aged Brew;
      • The Barrel should not be destroyed while aging, as it would leak after a short while;
      • When breaking the Spigot, everything inside will be spit out.

  • 4. Sealing
    • Crafting sealing table
      • 4 wood planks and 2 bottles in the arrangement shown
    • Sealing a brew will make its ItemID the same as other similar brews, it will also stop the aging process.

Using Brews

  • 1. Drinking
    • The Amount of Alcohol inside the Brew will be applied to the player when drinking. Depending on the quality of it, that may have different effects;
    • The Player may not be able to walk normally anymore, he will weave, making it almost impossible to walk straight;
    • Effects like Blindness, Confusion, Poison etc. occur;
    • The Chat will be altered depending on drunkeness, many things players write may be incomprehensible, sometimes it seems senseless;
    • Is the Alcohol particularly strong, it may have poisonous effects;
    • After drinking a lot, there is a chance of vomiting;
  • 2. Getting Sober
    • After drinking it takes a while until the alcohol is completely gone. During that time the alcohol level is steadily decreasing;
    • When logging off extremely drunk, it may happen that, if the player logs back in after a while, he may find himself at an completely unknown Place in the middle of nowhere having no idea how he got there;
    • But if he logs back in after some hours or next morning, he will find himself at /home, again without any memories;
    • Also if the Alcohol was not of best quality, the player may face some bad type of hangover (slowness and hunger);
    • Eating bread (x4) and/or drinking milk (x2) also helps with decreasing alcohol levels;

Recipes


Only the non alcoholic recipes will be public (on this post), while all of the alcoholic ones can be obtained either by purchasing the recipes from other players or through the Vote Shop (/vote shop). Recipes cost 20 Vote Tokens each. Players can also experiment with recipes and ingredients to find new brewing recipes.

  • Potato soup
    • Ingredients:
      • 3 Long grass/Shrubs
      • 5 Potatoes
    • Cooking time: 3 minutes
    • Distill runs: None
    • Aging: No
  • Coffee
    • Ingredients:
      • 12 Cocoa beans
      • 2 Milk buckets
    • Cooking time: 2 minutes
    • Distill runs: None
    • Aging: No
  • Tea
    • Ingredients:
      • 5 Oak leaves
      • 6 Sugar
    • Cooking time: 3 minutes
    • Distill runs: None
    • Aging: No
  • Chocolate milkshake
    • Ingredients:
      • 6 Cocoa beans
      • 2 Sugar
      • 1 Milk bucket
    • Cooking time: 3 minutes
    • Distill runs: None
    • Aging: No
  • Muscle milk
    • Ingredients:
      • 6 Apples
      • 12 Sugar
      • 12 Melon slices
      • 2 Milk buckets
    • Cooking time: 3 minutes
    • Distill runs: 1 run
    • Aging: No
  • Lemonade
    • Ingredients:
      • 2 Glowstone dust
      • 3 Sugar
    • Cooking time: 2 minutes
    • Distill runs: 1 run
    • Aging: No

- The library has since been moved from the location mentioned above. There is currently no way, that I know of, to acquire alcoholic recipes from the Government. You may still acquire them off of other players though!

for some reason im never able to see how long a drink has been in the barrel for please help. ive tried hovering over the drinks in the barrel, ive tried using the clock on the barrel, and ive tried taking them out of the barrel to check. it never works.

I'm trying to set up a chest shop for Tea. I tried using the /iteminfo but it doesn't work. I've tried a lot of things, I'm just wondering what the specific item ID is for it.

I would suggest one of the many malls we now have. You could also buy a plot and built a bar or cafe on top of it. If you want a bar or cafe, I suggest starting out in a mall to gain some base money.
