Department of Economy
Department Progress:

  • July was a huge month for the DoE. We rolled out three projects that will affect gameplay and income opportunities for all players. The first was Supplemental Income which is automatic micropayments upon completing job-related tasks for all uni jobs. This initiative is intended to ensure no job is more powerful or desirable than another by making all of them equally profitable. Now everyone can earn up to 500kr every 8 hours for doing their job.
  • A central bank was also rolled out this month in collaboration with DoCR. Every city and town has a bank part of the central bank network which allows a player to open and manage a secondary balance. This new balance acts as a savings account and earns interest during playtime.
  • A new job was also added to our roster: Miner. In another collaboration with DoCR, Miners have access to quarries. Quarries are mineral-rich deposits designated at each city and town. The selected minerals will randomize and rotate and quarries will reset every month to encourage players to travel to other cities and towns as well as protect our Wild from unnecessary destruction. Miners also have access to /autosmelt and drills.
  • Themed decorative heads were added to the government shop. July had a magic theme with an enchantment book, dragon eye, cauldron, lantern, and crystal ball.
Upcoming Projects:
  • Education Reform: With the addition of NPC's, we're considering how we can make our education system more immersive and making it easier for players to navigate the job guides, taking exams, and knowing what to do after they pass.
  • Financial Reform: The FDIC program is very ambiguous and ill-executed. We'd like to revisit how we can reinforce that program to encourage player-ran banks and other financial services. This, in turn, will help define the role of Treasurer more clearly. Additionally, we're considering how we can execute a stock exchange in a way that's manageable and accessible to our young audience.
  • Gov Mall: Long overdue for an overhaul. We're discussing how we can restore it to its former glory and a more sensible way to organize our government shops.
  • New decorative heads will be available in the first week of August. This month's theme is games: a football, helmet, basketball, soccer ball, and chessboard.
