The Parliament of Stratham enacts:

Section 1. Short Title

(1) This Act is the Copyright Protections Act.

Section 2. Commencement

(1) All provisions shall come into effect upon signage.

Section 3. Reasoning

(1) Copyright is not a thing right now.

Section 4. Copyright

(1) All citizens shall be entitled to copyright protections on all their creative works which include but are not limited to artwork, building design, writings, infographics, logos & slogans, and videos.
  1. Creative works must be easily recognized as different from other copyrighted pieces of work and must be able to be proven as such beyond a reasonable doubt.
(2) Copyright is the exclusive right for citizens to use, reproduce, copy, publish, and capitalize on their creative works.

(3) Citizens may not own the copyright to a style, genre, or type of work.
  1. A citizen may own the copyright to a type of work if the author was the first person to create the type and if it meets the requirements as a Creative work.
(4) Violation of Copyright Protections shall be defined as “Copyright Infringement”
  1. The copyright owner may seek legal damages for this which include but are not limited to:
  2. Compensation of loss revenue as a result of the Infringement.
  3. Removal of all works that infringe on the Copyright Protection.
(5) Citizens who violate copyright protections and who are ordered by the Judiciary to remove all infringing works shall be liable to additional monetary sanctions if they do not comply with the order.

Section 5. Fair Use

(1) Fair Use is the usage of a copyrighted piece of work for the following:
  1. News Reports
  2. Research
  3. Teaching
  4. Commentation
(2) Fair Use shall not be considered a Copyright Infringement.

Section 6. Transfer and Limitations

(1) Copyright may be transferred between citizens through a written contract.

(2) If the written contract is terminated for any reason, the Copyright shall return to the previous copyright owner. All infringing works must be removed by the other party to the contract within a reasonable time frame.

(3) Should a citizen maintain a /seen of six months or longer, their copyright protections shall hereby be forfeited.

(4) All Creative Works shall be grandfathered into this new law upon passage of this bill and all their works made prior to this bill shall be protected as Copyright.
