Removal Vote of The Tenants and Landlords Rights Act
The Parliament of Stratham enacts:
Section 1. Purpose
(1) This Act is solely to remove The Tenants and Landlords Rights Act.
Section 2. Commencement
(1) Removal of the named bill shall come into effect upon signage of this bill.
Section 3. Reasoning
(1) Bill states that its reasoning is to protect the rights and interests of landlords and tenants, however many citizens (both landlords and tenants) have found this bill to be counterproductive and hurts both business and player experience.
(2) The bill restricts the freedoms of players, both tenants and landlords, by compelling them via the law to force a design or standard look for tenants, killing competition and selling opportunities for either furnished or open canvas for the player to design.
(3) Players can easily destroy objects and sue the landlord creating false and damaging lawsuits, which can cause legal headaches and problems.
(4) Kills businesses by giving the players the comfort of not needing to go out and search for their own furnishings, which is imperative for a fulfilling RP experience.
(5) Regulations such as: “Tenants must have access to their apartment within 75 blocks of an elevator or stairway leading to the building's main entrance.” are not helpful towards the housing sector. Landlords should be competitive and making the apartments accessible and operational, as well as design features, is something the landlords should have the freedom to choose, and ultimately will help attract or in the opposite, push away customers, and it should be up to the players to decide how they want to run their commercial property- whether it be an apartment complex or a mall with rentable stalls as they both have landlords.
