    #VoteCodes2019
Hello ladies and gentlemen. My name is Codes, and I want to represent YOU in the December election cycle. I'll give a quick bio and then get to the policy. Skip to the BLUE text if you want to skip the exposition. I've been playing the server off and on for about 2 years now, and have about 10 days of in game playtime. I started my career as the editor for a news company, and now own several high value properties, mainly the Royal Atlantis Hotel and Casino by spawn. My goal as a MoP is to represent you and your rights. A vote for me will be a vote for yourself, as I consider my self an extension of the people.

My Policy: My main goal as an MoP is to protect your rights. We have a problem in our parliament; politicians have been too caught up shifting through pointless bureaucratic nonsense instead of actual policy that will increase your enjoyment of the server. It's time for a change. Overall, my policy plans include:

    • Using government to increase the rights of business owners, employees, and customers alike.
    • Protect the rights of those accused of crimes and ensure they are treated fairly
    • Ensure all companies are allowed a level playing field in the economy
    • Hold unelected members of cabinet accountable for their actions.
    • Increase the Power of the People in our democracy
If you made it this far, I friggin love you. Thanks for being such a good citizen, and remember, #VoteCodes or I will come for you in your sleep. Now please enjoy this suspiciously communist looking campaign poster. President.png

    1. The Consumer has the most power when it comes to business since they dictate where to spend their hard earned money unless they are forced to comply with a company that faces no other competition, luckily for them if that's the case, they can always be self reliant and gather things themselves since this is a video game and not real life. The employer has the power to hire and fire employees at any time as well as run the company however they wish. Employees just work for the employer and get paid by them. With all this, how would you propose said increased rights for employers and employees?
    2. What rights do you believe that we are infringing that we should protect for the accused?
    3. Regulating competition isn't necessary since there isn't much commerce in the game to begin with, which is why we are still in a recession. If you really want to be on a fairer playing field for your business, advertise it so people don't forget about it, that's how some businesses got big, they either had no competition to begin with or they're the most recognizable.
    4. We can already hold ministers accountable with the executive questions by Kbooth's bill, ill link it here: https://www.mcbusinesscraft.com/for...-accountability-act-executive-questions.5530/
    5. Can you go into more elaboration or explain your plans to increase citizen involvement/Power of the People? I only ask this since i'm curious. I feel that our server already gives power to the people since they are able to run for parliament if they choose to participate in this, also we have the ability for regular citizens to voice their opinion in political discussion and influence what parliament does since they represent the people.

“Using government to increase the rights of business owners, employees, and customers alike.”
Would this be in the form of a Bill of Rights?

“Protect the rights of those accused of crimes and ensure they are treated fairly”
What problems do you see with the current system?

“Ensure all companies are allowed a level playing field in the economy”
    What are your plans here?

“Increase the Power of the People in our democracy.”
You voted for a parliamentary recess? This would take the power away from the people. What system changes would you implement to fulfil this goal?

I really appreciate the great questions! I'm going to answer iRealistic's first.

    1. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way suggesting more business regulations, that is the LAST thing this economy needs right now. What I am saying is that business owners, consumers, and employees need more tools to ensure that they can operate smoothly. One of these ideas will be some edits to the Contract Legality Act to make contracts a more streamlined and accessible process. I also want to create policies for specific industries, like giving apartment owners more ability to enforce apartment rules. If there's one takeaway from this point, it's that these rights will not take away power, they will give power.
    2. For many players, the process of arrests is often confusing and uncomfortable. I suggest that we introduce a system like the United States' Miranda rights, where the officer must explain the charges against the individual in custody and tell them how long their sentence will last. In addition, inmates should always be given proper food, clothing in the winter, and medical treatment.
    3. I don't want to regulate competition, I want to promote it. The problem is that some businesses engage in anti-competitive practices. Here's a theoretical example; let's say I managed to buy 80% of the properties in Capital City and then refused to sell them, converting them all into apartment buildings. I acquired these buildings legally and am using them, making me free from property inspection. With that being said, it could be argued that my owning of all these buildings that could be used for other purposes could hurt the economy overall, and this bill would give the government the authority to take action.
    4. I love Kbooth's act, but I don't think it's enough. While Parliament is currently allowed to call in members of cabinet for questioning, it rarely happens, and is really only meant for situations in which that cabinet member has something going against them. I propose that we create mandatory monthly hearings that all cabinet members must attend. We should interview each cabinet member once per term, regardless of whether or not they are well liked by the general public. This will allow Parliament to track cabinet's progress and ensure that cabinet is acting in the interests of the people.
    5. The main idea of this portion of my campaign will be a series of checks and balances, something that I feel BC is currently missing. Really, what power does Parliament actually have? Any bill it creates can be vetoed at a moment's notice, and they really have no control over cabinet. Part of this new power will come from my changes to cabinet accountability, as when cabinet is under more scrutiny, they will feel more pressure to comply with the wants and needs of the average BC citizen. I also want to adjust the PM's veto ability to make it more balanced. I propose that we model a system like the United States' veto power. If the PM wishes to veto Parliament's bill, it will be sent back to Parliament. The PM can then petition Parliament as to why the bill was denied. Next, Parliament will vote on the bill again. If at least 6/7 MoPs vote yes again, the veto will be overridden. The one exception to this will be when a bill is physically impossible to implement, in which case, the veto will remain valid.
Ok I hope that answered your questions!

    2. I like the idea. The jailed player has access to the jail time left on the cell wall and a /laws reminder. Perhaps just making it compulsory for the PO to tell the player what they have been arrested for will suffice.

    3. So you want to stop mass plot ownership?

    4. Executive Questions is designed for anything. Whether it be to commend or inquire. When I tried to run one the parliament wouldn’t support running one without doing it for every minister.

    5. Koal is very fair. I support the current veto system. It’s not parliament’s job to say what cabinet can and can’t do as they run the server and their respective departments. We can change the law and scrutinise them however.

    I love communicating by number.

    2. I think we’re on the same page here.
    3. Not at all, that was just an example. I want to stop monopolies, where most of the factors of production and/or distribution are controlled by one firm with a high barrier of entry for new firms.
    4. That’s why I want to do it for every minister.
    5. Whether Koal is fair or not is neither here nor there. Obviously the ability to veto is crucial, and I have no intention of getting rid of it. However, the power should be with the people. A 6/7 majority is hard to get, so it’s fair to say that the will of the people are represented in these cases. Also, I’m not saying that parliament should micromanage cabinet, but ultimately, ministers serve the public, and parliament represents the public. It is crucial that ministers act in the interest of the public.

    3. What do you propose happens to companies such as Hamilton who do this?

    4. I think it would be great to hear from each minister on how their department runs and what their plans are. I’m with you there.

    5. I’ve suggested multiple alternatives to this issue.

Additionally, parliament can already overturn a veto.
    • Parliament has the ability to change the Constitution (albeit unwritten) and thus change the government system in any way, shape or form, including the changes within the government departments, their powers and positions in them. These changes, however, need to be signed by the Prime Minister just like any new legislation act. These would not be considered as simple law changes, and thus the Parliament would not be able to override the Prime Minister's veto.
    • Parliament can override an Executive Order (EO) made by the Prime Minister with 5 votes.
    • Parliament can override a veto of a law change with a unanimous vote, only if the vetoed law is a simple law change (e.g. changes to punishments to PvP laws)
    • Parliament cannot override a veto of a Government change.
