Protect the Reputations of Corporations and Private Citizens


The Parliament of Stratham enacts:

Section 1. Short Title

(1) This Act is the Reputation Act.

Section 2. Commencement

(1) All provisions shall come into effect upon signage.

Section 3. Reasoning

(1) With no law in place to define slander and libel, corporations and citizens can have their reputations damaged with false allegations with no repercussions for the liar.

Section 4. Defamatory Actions

(1) Slander shall be defined as “The act of using defamatory statements through means of messages that are untrue to damage the reputation of a corporation, or person(s).”

(2) Libel shall be defined as “The act of using defamatory statements that are untrue through means of media such as the or other published media, to damage the reputation of a corporation, or person(s).”

(3) Defamatory shall be defined as “Remarks that are intended to damage the good reputation of a person(s) or corporate entity.”

(4) Any citizen may file a civil suit to rectify the damages of Slander or Libel. If Slander or Libel be proven to have taken please, the Court may grant the following reliefs:
  1. Monetary relief for damage to reputation.
  2. Public Apology from the Defendant.
  3. Any additional relief deemed appropriate.
(5) In order for Slander and Libel to be considered as such, they must meet these additional requirements:
  1. The form in which the slander takes place must be visible to at least 2 citizens or more that do not include the defamer and victim.
