There's nothing more annoying than a server that has default notification set to all messages. While it isn't that hard to set them to mentions only, it still gets annoying when you have to do it for every single server you join. Especially when the server's not that active most of the time but then people start chatting and you get 100+ notifs. By making @mentions only mandatory, more players will want to stay in approved service servers, which in turn improves community infrastructure and stability.
